The Creative Coast Path
楽
Whilst I grew up in West Penwith, I have, until recently, spent relatively little time actually walking the coast paths which trace the edges of this peninsula. It is, I feel, often easy to take for granted the beauty that surrounds us as part of our day to day life. I am certainly guilty of this and I don’t think I am unique in this respect.
The year 2023 marked the 50th year of the South West Coast Path Association and it seemed fitting during my 50th year to devote a little time to walking the trail. What began for me as a journey into the complete unknown turned into a 70 day trek along the entire 630 mile path from Minehead in Somerset to Poole in Dorset. Camping in the wilds and swimming in the sparkling waters whilst ranging the everchanging landscapes, the experience was challenging and transformational in equal measure. I was immersed in the most awe inspiringly stunning beauty which will stay with me forever. I intend to translate and share the beauty that I captured along the trail in future collections - watch this space!
As a taster of what is to come, I am sharing some photos taken along England’s longest trail…I hope you enjoy!
“…wilful and wildhearted, alone amid a waste of wild air and brackish waters and the seaharvest of shells and tangle and veiled grey sunlight…”
-James Joyce

Words which resonate…
“Our own noise blots out the sounds and silences of the outdoor world; … The only friend to walk with is one who so exactly shares your taste for each mood of the countryside that a glance, a halt, or at most a nudge, is enough to assure us that the pleasure is shared.”
-C.S. Lewis
“I like walking because it is slow, and I suspect that the mind, like the feet, work at about three miles an hour. If this is so, then modern life is moving faster than the speed of thought or thoughtfulness.”
-Rebecca Solnit, Wanderlust
“If you truly love nature, you will find beauty everywhere.”
–Vincent van Gogh
“Study nature, love nature, stay close to nature. It will never fail you.”
–Frank Lloyd Wright
