For me, my pottery studio is a nurturing space where I can immerse myself in the mindful pursuit of hand building.  This gradual process allows me time to craft pieces individually with care and attention to detail.  The moulded clay body becomes my canvas as I carve and incise the surface of each piece with a unique design.  Colours are layered with glazes and metallic pigments before a final Raku firing - a technique where each piece is pulled from the glowing red hot kiln to rest in a bed of combustible material to cool.  I love the unpredictable nature of the Raku process where fire and smoke combine to create lustrous, vibrant, unexpected results with each and every firing.  This magical technique is reminiscent of alchemy, results are  always exciting, spontaneous, and entirely unique.   And I feel so grateful to those who feel moved to choose to add my artistic interpretations to their own collections.
